To charge a Renogy lithium battery, use a compatible lithium battery charger or a solar charging system with a Renogy MPPT charge controller. Ensure the charger matches the battery's voltage and does not exceed the recommended charging current. Avoid overcharging by monitoring voltage levels and following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Renogy lithium batteries are primarily designed for deep cycle applications, providing long-lasting energy for devices like RV appliances, solar systems, and marine electronics. They are not designed for engine starting due to their lower cold cranking amps (CCA). For starting engines, consider a dedicated starter battery, usually a lead-acid battery.

Renogy lithium batteries, particularly our LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) models, are known for their high safety and reliability. Unlike other lithium batteries, LiFePO4 chemistry does not contain rare earth elements, heavy metals, or lead, making it non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Our batteries are non-corrosive, non-explosive, and won’t catch fire under normal use. Additionally, each Renogy lithium battery is equipped with a battery management system (BMS) that protects against overcharging, overheating, and short circuits, ensuring safe operation.

To maximize the lifespan of your Renogy LiFePO4 battery:

Avoid deep discharges below 20% state of charge (SOC).
Charge using a compatible charger within the recommended voltage range.
Store at around 50% SOC if unused for long periods.
Keep temperatures between -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C) during use. Extreme temperatures can negatively affect performance, so avoid exposing the battery to excessive heat or charging in very low temperatures.
Regular use and partial discharges help maintain the battery’s health, so try to cycle it occasionally rather than letting it sit idle.
Periodically check the battery's voltage and condition, especially if it’s part of a system you don’t use frequently.

Store your Renogy lithium battery in a cool, dry place with temperatures between -10°C to 45°C (14°F to 113°F). Ensure it is charged to around 50% SOC for long-term storage and disconnect any external loads. Periodically check the charge every 3-6 months to prevent over-discharge.

Most Renogy lithium batteries can be connected in both series (to increase voltage) and parallel (to increase capacity), but it's essential to ensure all batteries are of the same brand, model, and capacity. For series connections, you can connect up to 4 batteries to achieve higher voltages. For parallel connections, ensure batteries are of the same model, capacity, and state of charge. However, not all lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries can be connected in series or parallel such as golf cart batteries. Please note that while most Renogy Lithium batteries can be wired in series for a higher voltage, none are rated to exceed 48V maximum.
